Everyone is entitled to health
COVID-19 has changed everything. Or has it?
At Hunuvat, we believe that health is multi-faceted - from genetic, diagnostic, therapeutic innovations to equity, and balance with our environment. We must uplift the rights of everyone, regardless of geography, gender, identify or ability to pay. If COVID has taught us anything, it is that if all of us aren’t safe, none of us are safe.
Hunuvat is named after the Hunuvat Chiy’a, the Cahuilla name for the joshua tree, and inspired by the resilience and creativity of indigenous communities in California and around the world to adapt and survive great change.
We are living through the throes of a historic new industrial revolution, with dramatic advances in genetics, technology, medicines and diagnostics. For these advances to transform all of our lives to for the better, we need to understand - and own - the science, not the other way around. We have developed COVID vaccines in under a year. But how many years will it take us to vaccinate the world?
For Hunuvat, innovation is not only about devising, but delivering the most simple, effective and safe interventions for the many, rather than complex interventions available only to the few.
Make Change Happen
It can be hard for public health leaders, national and international researchers, communities and the private sector to stay on top of rapidly evolving information about pandemics. Hunuvat’s collaboration with NewsDoc Media creates character-driven podcasts, including A Shot In The Arm Podcast to inform and educate .
